Mother's Day

Sunday, May 8, 2011
I'm kind of digging this mother's day thing more and more each year.  As the kids get more into school, they come home with some adorable projects / artwork for such occasions and nothing quite makes a mom appreciate her unpaid job as much as poem by her 8 year old:
Rose are red
Violets are blue
You are my mom
and I love you
or a bouquet of tissue paper flowers, or a coupon book offering to take the garbage out or set the table from a certain 5 year old, or a book that says he likes it when "my mom gives me kandy" and that I am "as pretty as a flour in a yard." Love it.

And even at my age each year I find myself appreciating my own mother, mother-in-law and grandmothers more and more.  While you may find some who cynically feel this is a Hallmark invented day, I say so what?  Since when was there too much love and appreciation being passed around.  Since never.

Here are some random pictures from my phone today:

I always feel a little guilty when my daughters, who are mother's also, devote their day to making sure I'm pampered, but I have to admit it was a beautiful, memorable day! Thank you!
