I Might Be In Trouble

Tuesday, April 27, 2010
This will be my first of 3 nights with Rich out of town - not a normal occurrance for us, but I'm up to the challenge.  Except that....
  • Will has this new sleeping pattern that has him losing about an hour and a half of sleep a night compared to a month or so ago with no make-up time in the form of naps.  It's starting to show as today I'm pretty sure he had only one foot on  Earth and the other in La La Land.  While he isn't really ever naughty, it's more the complete and utter lack of focus that gets him in trouble.  Like today, when I wait for him to wash his hands in preschool before I kiss him goodbye, he wanders from the sink with his hands full of soap.  I calmly inform him that he hasn't finished the task but inside my head I'm thinking...For real?  You didn't notice the SUDS dripping off of your hands????!!!  Needless to say - ugh.
  • And Paige has been great, but came home today at lunch due to a half day of school.  Because she had ballet tonight I figured it was a good time to catch up on sleep.  She did - 2 1/2 hours worth of a nap!  However, tonight we had a little scuffle about what she is eating for lunch and that she has not held up to her end of the bargain to buy milk when she takes a sack lunch.  I can check.  There's a record of what she purchases on the computer.  I only wish they showed pictures of the their trays when they're done to see what they ate compared to what they bought.  Ever watched the Food Revolution?  That, plus being a dietitian, makes me a little freaky strict on this subject.  She won't be winning this battle until I see milk being purchased.  She knows this now.
  • And Cole. Well, he has still been pretty dreamy.  Except that today I saw light from the back door as if the garage door was open.  It was Cole.  First kid to let himself out the garage door himself.  (I'm very strict about this because of both safety and dogs getting free, etc.)  It was all in the name of bringing his new plasma car back in the house.  A worthy cause.

Dare I say if you get bored while Rich is gone, give me a call one of those nights!

Oh I feel the pain of single-parenting for nights on end! I was laughing about Will because, at one point today, I looked at my boys (all very overtired due to getting up at ridiculous hours) and thought that if I didn't know better, I would say they were drunk!
