We opted for a pantry cabinet with wonderful pull-out shelves just as you enter the dining room. But because it is tall and narrow, it didn't really have a good architectural effect. Therefore, my talented dad went to work on this wine rack that decorates the exterior side of the cabinet:
Though I know that life isn't about material things, these things - the things that are made lovingly and painstakingly by others - are truly so important to me. They include lovey blakets of Cole's made by my mom, afghans made by my mother-in-law and her mother, quilts made by my grandmother and aunts, furniture and upgrades by my dad, utility overhauls by my father-in-law, a special chair made by my grandfather, a visual depiction of our family tree made by my sister-in-law. They are so special. And for this reason, I will be encouraging my kids to go home-made for Christmas presents for others this Christmas. We'll see what we get!

man! word working is such an amazing talent! That is truly a beautiful (and SO handy) addition to your home. Your dad is quite awesome like that!
It's beautiful, and what a great way to solve the problem without getting into tearing out walls (my suggestion!). :)
I LOVE homemade gifts. They are the very best. Of course, most everything that doesn't cost money is best, in my mind!
I noticed you didn't want to share the inside of the pantry!! :):)
Once again Jim turns out a beautiful piece of work!

Oooh, I hope I get a windsock for Christmas!
