We had a successful festival. You know, the one we've been counting down minutes to? Though there were a couple of scheduling snaffus including a complete fair close-down due to violent weather, the kids still got their fill. What's more, they were more into the rides than ever before and were daring enough to try some of the biggies. These included an obstacle course, the dragon roller coaster, the giant swings (Paige), the tilt-a-whirl (with me...hurl), and the large ferris wheel (Will), while still riding the old favorites like the "fast cars" and the giant slide
Here are a few pictures. We went Saturday night with Rich's parents and grandmother. When asked if she was having a good time, Rich's grandmother (86) stated words I thought were great words of wisdom: if you're not having fun, it's your own fault.
Such mixed emotions this Father's Day as we gather around my grandfather in the hospital as he strugglers for breath, as I watch my father find a perfect blend of caring for his father and still playing with his grandkids, and as I watch my husband exhibit some of his best fathering skills as he helps with the kids all day. Such reasons to have this day to celebrate.
