Because Cole wasn't eating the best due to his cold, I was searching for something that he would enjoy. I had some Asiago bread that was soft and I read the label and noticed that milk was not under the allergen warnings, only wheat and soy. This was certainly odd, I knew, since it was asiago cheese bread, but the part of me that knew how much he would love it believed the label. He had 3 pieces. He had started coughing a little, but this was maybe due to his cold. I did give him a nebulizer treatment, though, when he seemed to be getting worse. He went down for a nap great and slept great.
When he woke at near 4pm I lost my breath when I walked in and saw him. He was beat red, swollen and radiating heat from at least 2 feet away. Thankfully, he seemed to be breathing just fine. So, after a call to Rich and a rush into his doctor, he got a steroid shot, Benedryl, and another neb treatment and at bedtime tonight seemed to be doing much better. Here he is trying to have some dinner with a little of the redness gone down, but you can still tell:
Moral of the story: trust instincts; don't trust allergy warnings only on food labels - bummer, because I've become very dependent on these.

Man, that had to be SO scary!! I'm so sorry - for you and for Cole. Hope all are better today.
that would have scared the bejezes (?spelling)out of me. i hope he's back to himself today.
This doesn't even look like him. Yikes!! And at his party or with all company -we have to just be super careful that people aren't forgetting and slipping him cookies or something......Oh my gosh - this pic breaks my heart - look at his fingers!
Oh my gosh - I'm so sorry!! I have heard those labels aren't always right (booooo).
I'm catching up on all your recent posts - hysterical as always!! I have to agree on all shopping points. Now I tend to spend WAY too much money because I just grab and figure I'll take it back later if I don't like it....except I never find the time to go back!! (me = not a big shopper either...even without kids!)
awww - poor baby cole! =(
this IS heart breaking. hope he feels better!
