Our Daily Walk

Wednesday, October 8, 2008
Shortly after Paige gets picked up for school Will, Cole, the dogs and I go on a walk (with Will riding his bike). I look forward to this time of day. I KNOW the dogs look forward to it and Will seems to enjoy the rare occasion to be the leader. Most of the time this is a calm, enjoyable event. Today wasn't so much.

First we (Will) decided to take a longer walk and he got a little worn out.

Then, the plastic bag I had brought for dog detail was faulty - only I didn't know this until the poop fell right through, getting on my finger and skidding down my leg. Okay, let's quicken the pace so that I can get home to wash myself.

THEN, we walk across the street from the hoodlums (I don't exaggerate here - they are a frequent stop for the police department) and it seems they've gotten yet another dog. This dog sees us across the cul-de-sac and down the street a bit and takes off towards us. Now, even the nicest dog who is running after you with its jowels flapping can look mean. The fact that this dog definitely had pit bull in it only added to the terror. After yelling "hey!" a couple times to the boy who was "watching" the dog, the dog had made it to us and was just sniffing (thankfully). I informed the boy (in kind of a pit-bull with lipstick-ish manner) not to just let his dog run after someone without trying to stop him! He, of course, managed to utter some curse word, but I'm sure my evil stare let him know what I thought!

UNRELATED: here are some pictures I promised to post. This is the corn maze we went to up at Aunt Jamie and Uncle Steve's:

Then here are a couple pictures of our day visiting the Kellys. With Grandpa K:

OMG Kate! She's so grown up!

And thank you for reminding me why we don't have dogs. And probably never will.

We have thugs in our neighborhood, too, and they have pit bulls. It's nice, isn't it?

Love the pic of the two big kids in their John Deere gear! Paige looks like she's modeling.

Hey! I posted a comment about the "peanut butter" incident but it didn't work....hmmmm.

The pics are great. Cole looks older each picture you post - his expressions are just so full of personality. Paige is a Diva and quite frankly - Will intimidates me!! Great pic - I love their competitive sides.
