We Did It

Sunday, February 7, 2010
Well, before the holidays we taped The Wizard of Oz. Because we have some people in our house who are bothered by scary shows when trying to go to bed, we have sat on this one a while worried about bedtime effects. But Saturday night we were up for a new movie and decided to give it a try. We watched about 45 minutes before it was bedtime and finished the rest in the morning. The kids were MESMERISED. Truly. Movie makers today could learn a thing or two from such classics.

They weren't overly scared by the witch, but had MANY questions. Here is a sample:
  • Did that woman riding the bike really just turn into a witch in the tornado?
  • Can tornadoes really pick houses up?
  • Are tornadoes real?
  • Why did the witch's legs shrivel up when the shoes came off?
  • Is there another witch sister?
  • Why is it color now?
  • Why doesn't the witch just take the ruby slippers with her magic?
  • Why do those munchkins have funny voices?

So, while it wasn't a quiet movie, it was thoroughly enjoyed!

note to self: brush up on tornado knowledge before a viewing of this movie with my kids. Got it!
