Hierarchy of Needs

Monday, January 25, 2010
This weekend started out great with a large party at my parents due to a visit from our cousins from Ohio and South Carolina. It was great fun to see their little kids jump in and join ours!
Here is everyone singing happy 89th birthday to great grandma.
Here they are watching a movie on cousin Avery's portable DVD player.

Here they are again - all lined up with snacks watching a movie

Here they are doing a project!

But then things took a turn for the worse when 9 of the people present at the party become violently ill (including Rich, myself and Paige) within the next 24-48 hours. We don't know if some sort of foodborne illness is to blame or just a really quickly-spreading virus, but it definitely put a damper on the rest of the visit for our relatives!
So while I'm on the subject, I'd like to share my frame of mind when I was slowly realizing I was, indeed, sick and probably wasn't going to feel well the next day. My plans start to move downward on the 'ole hierarchy of needs:
1. Okay our plans to travel almost 2 hours north to my sister & brother-in-law's probably isn't going to happen
2. Okay, we'll just stay in and find a fun project to make up for the major change in plans
3. Movie day...all day...
4. I'll just open the pantry and let the kids fend for themselves. It's all about survival at this point.
While it was a stay-in day, it wasn't as bad as predicted and the kids were SO good - even the boys who didn't understand why none of us felt like doing much of anything! Here's to a healthy week!

your hierarch is hysterical! Do I have to be sick to progress to stage 4? ;)
