Something I've Learned

One major problem I've found that I have as a parent is that I tend to over extrapolate situations illogically.  What I mean by that is that if a certain (usually negative) thing happens, I think it will be that way for life - and worse.  Here are a few examples:

Paige uses a paci until after age 2 = going to college with pacifier and serious buck teeth
Will bites as one-year old = agressive, mean boy
Paige gets in trouble at school for chatting = high school dropout
Cole is slow to talk = still not talking as 10-year old

This is why when Will was so defiant about going to any classes as a 3-year old and younger, I was sure I'd be dealing with a child that would need constant work to get out of bed to go to school, do homework, tell me what's going on at school.  SO....I have to remind myself how quickly things can change, and how what you're dealing with right now is JUST THAT...right now.  Will is an absolute joy to take to school.  He smiles the whole way into the classroom with full dimples in effect.  He has ownership of his class when he speaks of what they do and is super proud to empty the contents of his backpack each day.  I HAVE to remember this!

And speaking of Will, his artistic skills are really beginning to impress us.  While this is not the most impressive, I thought it was funny:

It's an astronaut on a space walk.  Note the tether to the ship so he doesn't float off into space.  And note the fact that the moon was full, then he erased that and decided to go with a crescent.  Impressive work!

First of all, LOVE the new background!!

Secondly, I totally do this over extrapolation thing, too.

Also loved Will's drawing, especially the tether. So happy for both of you that school is fun!

Wow Will!! - he's a really great artist! Super impressive!! I am RIGHT there with you on the "over extrapolation of situations"! I have to remind myself every day to stop doing that!
