Thank God for Train Tables

Tuesday, September 8, 2009
Because of the Thomas the train table, Will was mesmorized and didn't really focus on the fact that I was leaving him at preschool today. He had shown some mixed emotions in the morning: excitment to wear his new backpack, then a shaking voice stating that the didn't want to go to school once we got there.

The after-report was that he did, indeed, have separation anxiety and cried. The teacher said that he was her helper, though, and that he ended up doing just fine. Will's report was that he "cried a little, but then he just got used to it."

While I'm still worried for what future school days may bring, there were good signs today - a definite success for Will! He was excited to tell us a few things about the day and show us a macaroni necklace he had made. I'm so very proud of Will.
The school kids before Paige left.

He's smilin'! That's a good sign!

i personally love that it appears that he went to school for his first day with a tattoo on his arm, which i believe luke did one year, too!

i'm glad he had a good first day (except for the minimal crying). kenny cried for the first month of school until it was his turn to brings snacks. if i would have known that, i would have signed up to bring snacks for the entire first month:)

They both look so cute! I'm glad Will had a relatively good day. I'm sure it will only get better from here on out. He sure looks happy!!

Awwwww--he looks so happy--feeling nervous inside but being a real trooper! I think he did really well by the sounds of it (". . . but I got used to it"--how cute is that?). Love these 1st day of school pics. Paige looks so grown up.
