I'm so pumped for fall and Halloween this year - more so than previous years and I think I know why. 1) Paige actually wants to be something a bit more intriguing than a Disney Princess (A sorceress) and 2) Will is obsessed with any and all signs of the pending Halloween holiday.
So today we (and my sister and her kids) went to a temporary "Halloween U.S.A." store very near us to check things out; it was a blast. There were full-sized goblins and ghouls that spoke when you walked near them, skeletons of every size and gruesome weapons. There were also very funny costumes as well. Will thought he wanted a sceptre with a skull on it for his skeleton costume, but decided he didn't want to carry anything but candy. He did find a fetching pimp cane complete with a brass-looking naked woman on top that thankfully I don't think he even noticed. Paige had her choice of 1 accessory to dress up her sorceress costume and chose a wizard-like necklace with bat wings and a jewel in the middle. Lastly, Cole was happy to try on any hat - from cowboy to clown - while making an evil witch cackle for each. It was fun!
Someday when I'm not too busy handling the kids on Halloween, I may dress up for the occasion. The store inspired me - made me find my inner globlin. I may even (gasp) attend a party again someday! What would you be?

i'm not sure what i'm going to be yet for the party we're going to but i'm SO excited b/c kenny wants to be harry potter (after a lot of reverse psychology).
you could go as "smarty pants". just stick packages of smarties to your pants :)
i'll have to take the boys to the halloween store sometime! now that i know it's there, i think we'll try to avoid the aisle with the naked-woman-topped cane.
I think it would be really funny to see Will dressed as Huggy Bear...but that's just me.
I'm really into fall this year, too. Maybe it's because we had no summer???
Rol's mother always used to dress up for Halloween, much to his chagrin most of the time! One year he was at a costume party and she dressed up as a little old woman, complete with full-head mask, and showed up at the party. She kept bumping into him, poking him and generally making a nuisance of herself. Of course, she was there to keep an eye on him, but when he got home he told her "some girl kept trying to flirt with me all night. What a pest!" She thought she was pretty funny! I've dressed up for years for Halloween. It's so fun to see the kids' faces when you open the door and reverse the surprise on them!!
I'll take Will's cane and be the pimp. So we all know what you will be then--HA
Ok...I'm so glad someone else is as excited as I am. I've already been to that Halloween store twice :):) Loving the kids costume choices! I have no idea what I would be! My old standby, last-minute costume was wearing an old bridesmaid's dress and making a quick sash that said "Miss Chevious"
