Family Fun Week Cont'd

Today we made a quick decision to go to the zoo since it was cool out; we wouldn't have to fight the heat and maybe more animals would be out. There was the threat of rain. However, since it didn't keep us away, I don't know why I thought it would keep the gazillions of other people who were there away. It was THE MOST crowded I have ever seen the Brookfield Zoo. Perhaps it had something to do with the fact that the zoo first opened on this day 75 years ago. Little planning snaffu, but we still managed to have fun. Our goal was to see all the animals we could see in the 3 hours we had (before the zoo closed at 5pm - what?! That's crazy to me) so we skipped the shows and extra things, but may be back to catch them. Here are some snapshots.
Paige and Will watching the seals. My personal fave.
Cole hollering at the polar bear. He hollered at every animal, I think trying to get its attention.
The big dino advertising the dinosaur exhibit. Didn't go see it because we wanted to see animals that were actually living, but I bet it's cool.

Everyone in Tropic World. My second favorite place.

My long lost cousin.

Great pics - I can hear Cole's voice in my head yelling at the animals. He cracks me up when he "talks." I'm laughing at your attire on July 1!

our friends went there this weekend on vacation. they didn't realize it closed at 5 and got there at 4:15. they wanted to see the dino exhibition but decided 45 minutes wasn't worth $40 some dollars.
it sounded good though.

Seals and Polar Bears--oh my!! I wish we had some of those cold weather critters out here. We've got camels and coyotes. And wallabies. Claire would love to see a real polar bear! And really, you got to wear long pants and long sleeves in July? *Sigh* It's 105 here today. There is just not enough deodorant in the world for that...

I noticed on the weather channel how unseasonably cool it has been for you!! It's great that you were able to take advantage of it and hit the zoo!!
