Recipe for Creating a Monster

It's simple. No need for paper and pen...

Yesterday the kids and I went to the mall mostly just for fun. As you enter the mall there is a gleaming array of candy vending machines just beckoning to every child that walks through the doors. We had the obligatory talk about the candy and each were promised a quarter for their choice on the way OUT if they were well-behaved.

It was a thoroughly enjoyable trip excpet for my realization that Cole is officially a stroller-hater (at least if he sees the big kids doing cooler stuff like touching merchandise or perhaps hiding among hanging clothes.) So, towards the end of the trip he was definitely wanting freedom. And a quarter for his candy choice. So, I got ME some Mike & Ikes and bit a piece off to share with him. Recipe as follows for Creating a Monster

Ingredients: 1 fraction of a Mike & Ike
Directions: Dispense into child's mouth and wait approximately .2 seconds.

I dropped the rest of the handful of candy in my pocket. Cole sensed this and had his hand in every possible crevice of my clothing searching for more. Then, he nose-dived almost out of my hands toward the Mike & Ike candy machine. We left. Rapidly.

That is so funny. Lauren will do that with just about anything edible. If she is playing on the floor and she hears the sound of silver clanging against a bowl/plate, she will high-tail it over to you, pull herself up and open her mouth like a baby bird. She ate half of a ham salad sandwich last Saturday night, AFTER a huge dinner, a cookie and a bottle of juice. Moo. :)
