I was playing these word puzzles with Will again today and I realized not only does he always start with the same few words, he always lines them up just so when he completes them. Then I got to thinking that he is very systematic with all the puzzles that he does. Usually the pieces (of the ones he has done over and over) are placed together in the same order. He is also very systematic when he works with all of his tracks and other car games. Things are done a certain way, slow and steady.
Then why - oh - why does he fiddle about and hum and circle around and contort his body when given the simple task of putting shoes on? What? I've blogged about this before?

He loves songs - right? How about a catchy tune - like his famous "5 dollar..5 dollar...5 dollar foot long!!" Maybe we would sing "right foot....left foot....shoes on let's go!" to that jingle????
Jamie, you're, like, WAY smart. :) Great idea!
How about slip-on clogs or similar type shoes? Or lining his shoes up with the left one always in front, followed by the right one, and ask him to see how fast he can put them on in that order. That speaks to his systematic way of doing things, right? At least it mightcut down on those little dance routines of his when it comes to shoe time. Or is it not the act of tying that is holding him up but, rather, his boyness?? :-) :-)
