We're really doing it

This evening we went on a family bike ride. This may sound simple and mundane, but it was huge. Last summer we couldn't do this because Cole was too small to go in the trailer or any other type of bike seat. The summer before that, the kids were riding bikes, but too small to actually go on a real ride. Now, with Will graduating to a 16-inch and Cole happy to feel the breeze in the trailer behind me we can actually get somewhere - and it is great! I wanted to shout we're finally out and about with a great sigh of relief, only the shouting job was already taken...by Paige.

There is something about riding her bike that makes her speak as if we're right on the sidelines of a Nascar racetrack. I'm not sure if the wind blows in her ear and makes her feel like it's "noisy" outside or what. But, I'm pretty sure EVERYONE who was outside this evening in a 1/2 mile proximity heard...
oh my gosh that's Jacob from my bus. He's bad; he got written up
Oh, there's an egg on the ground!
Mom! Mom! THIS IS FUN!
Wi-ull, don't ride next to me!
Mom! I'm totally not tired.
Oh! That's Lauren's house. I think she's at Haley's.
Oh my gosh here comes a big dog!
Mom, that girl's bike is totally like mine!
Mom! Let's stop. The boys are way behind us.
Oh my gosh I think that was a bee (with excessive drama...probably lingering fear from the Great Bee Sting of '08)

Some embarrassment aside - it was a great ride!

My favorite one of Kelly's was, coming back from the playground and still about 100 feet from the house: "MOOOOM. Kitty had to go home to poop!"

I wonder if "Jacob from the bus" heard her...hilarious!

Um, we've NEVER taken a family bike ride, and we won't until JH can ride his own bike...I am terrified of bike seats and we don't have a trailer (oh, and it's hilly here).
