Today Paige was invited to her friend's house just down the road. She lives across the street and down about 10 houses. Paige is getting just to the age that it is acceptable to have her bike down there herself. But I'm not to the stage that it's comfortable. What is with my mind? I mean, I know that it is common to be ultra-worried (especially when it is the oldest - first time through these milestones), but this is where having an imagination is NOT beneficial.
It could go as planned...I go with her to aid in crossing the street and watch her go all the way down the sidewalk (with no other streets to cross) to her friend's house.
Oooor......
I aid in her crossing the street and watch her ride down and just as she's getting smaller, Will calls my name and I look in the direction of the front door. In that time, Paige falls and scrapes her knee - only she can't scream because she simultaneously choked on her gum and she can't get up and get help because her shoelace, in the meantime, twisted tight around her bike pedal and all of this happens just beyond a bush such that when I look back and don't see her I think she is safely at her friend's house. See?? This is why I worry.

why do i have this vision of you dressed up as a bush following her to her friends house so she won't know you're actually following her?
Not that you have given it any thought or anything! We lived right next door to Kelly's grade school - I could literally watch her walk from our front door into the school. But I still walked her over every single day. Too many variables, man!
Okay, so...knee pads? Check. No gum while bike riding? Check. Slip-on shoes while bike riding? Check. Talk to neighbors about keeping their bushes trimmed in order to avert any unforeseen calamities? Check check. :) My work here is done.
Oh, and I'm laughing so hard at the vision of you dressed as a bush. TOO FUNNY!
I agree with Laurie's list except no slip on shoes! I was almost in 6th grade when I had slip on shoes on and one fell off and got caught in the spokes(which acted as a brake in the wheel) and I flipped over my handle bars and messed up my face REAL bad. I know that probably doesn't help you freak out any less but, it's important to know!
Hayley! I visited RIGHT after that happened - so I totally remember!
