The Crush

Today I got a glimpse of something I hadn't really thought about yet...

Paige came running up the driveway off the bus while the boys and I were out playing and asked if Lauren could come play. So, Lauren rode her bike down for a bit. At about this time, Will was busy coloring a rock with pink sidewalk chalk for Riley. :) When Lauren arrived, Will changed his mind and decided the rock was going to be for Haley. That's Lauren, Will. Oh yeah, Lauren. Just then, the girls ran inside and Will was concerned that he wasn't going to have the chance to give Lauren her rock. I told him to put it in her bike basket for a surprise. He did this. After we got inside and after several verifications of what her name was, Will climbed the stairs to apparently go tell her that there was a surprise waiting for her in her bike basket because both girls came running down to check it out. He was all giggles on the couch while Haley, er, Lauren saw her surprise and she was all smiles when she came back in and they ran back upstairs. Will asks me, "Do you think she liked it?" A crush on his sister's friends. Cute now...scary later.

Another Will-ism...
Tonight we had fish patties for dinner (don't judge). The kids ate like it was their last meal, but Will was explaining how they make those fish patties..."First the fish are swimming - then they catch them and put them in the oven - then they turn into this chicken!" Ah-ha! That has cleared so much up for me!

I love it that your kids are such good little fishy eaters. My Mom used to make perch when I was a kid - I loved it then (apparently) but hate it now. I never complained about the food that was put in front of me, which I'm sure made my Mom's life SO much easier. Except liver. And creamed asparagus with hard-boiled eggs, which I love now, but hated then.

I would like to thank Will for clarifying how fish is processed. That explains the odd, not-at-all-like-a-fish look that Mrs. Paul's has! (you know I won't judge you!)
