I feel that in general we live in a "me, me" society. Therefore, I try hard to teach about thinking of others, putting in your share of work and not feeling like you're "owed" anything. While we still have our ultra-selfish moments, I have seen signs lately from the two older ones that the message is being instilled.

The other morning Paige asked if she could go down and make Will and herself breakfast because I "shouldn't have to do all that work." I came down and they each had mini muffins, OJ and half a banana and were happily chatting at the breakfast table. I could have taken the extra time to pluck my eyebrows that morning!

Then today after Will had time to play Geo tracks alone, I brought Cole down to join Will. He doesn't prefer this because Cole tends to be a Godzilla and wrecks everything in pursuit of one particular train car he eyes across the track. As I saw Will's eyes popping out of his head I said he needs to find a way to include his brother now. I ran upstairs and came down to find Will teaching Cole how to use this little race track for his soft cars. I was so impressed that he was able to disconnect himself from what he really wanted to do and find something more appropriate for Cole.
