The End to Spring Break

Minus Cole's incident this week, it has been a great week off of the normal routine for us. The big kids have not even come close to uttering the "b" word (bored - I hate it) and have had a great time keeping busy playing with one another. Today after being in quiet time for a whopping 5 minutes, Paige came out and said, "Mom, since I have go to school tomorrow again can I go in Will's room and have quiet time with him because I'm going to miss him." I didn't hesitate to say yes since, you know, you only have Spring Break as a Kindergartener once (hopefully). Actually, it was just so cute and probably true that I couldn't say no.

Here is an example of the partnership and empathy that they have exhibited this week. Both kids were upstairs and had sleeper-style pjs on for fun (because it was snowing - seemed appropriate). We saw Will walk to the bathroom and then heard a painful sigh and moan...then a "Mom?" Rich being a guy knew exactly what had happened. Those pesky zippers. He didn't cry, but it hurt bad. Paige came up and said, "What happened?" I just replied that Will had zipped his skin in his pjs. Paige said, "Oh, that hurts, I once pinched my neck in my zipper." Apparently I hadn't been descriptive enough for Will because he chimed in, "Actually I pinched my penis." Paige so genuinely responded, "Ooooo...I don't have a penis, but I bet that really hurt." And she gave him a hug and they were on their way. :)

For those trying to figure out how this could have happened, his boxer briefs were mistakenly pulled up crooked, thus leaving important parts exposed to the ferocious zipper.
