So True

Today was a slow news day as far as the kids go, so I thought I would share a quote from the novel Marley and Me which I am just about finished with. I connect with this book unbelievably so in that they have a yellow lab (as their first child) and 3 small children after that. It's sort of an enjoy-them-while-you-can reminder:

Even on the worst days, we usually managed to find something to smile over, knowing by now what every parent sooner or later figures out, that these wondrous days of early parenthood - of diapered bottoms and first teeth and incomprehensible jabber - are but a brilliant, brief flash in the vastness of an otherwise ordinary lifetime.

What a great quote. This is why I so love to read. I am in awe of people who can boil things down to their very essence and convey them in a very relatable way.

Poor Nicole! I hope you were able to get that girlfriend time on the phone with Karen. If not, MAKE THE TIME! (Easy for me to say - the girl with no toddlers!)

I am a cousin of Nicole's - I just read Marley and Me this winter - my mom loaned it to me - i LOVED IT! and i will warn you when you get to the last few pages - be ready to be alone and have a box of tissues handy - at least that is what i had to do - i was sobbing so hard i had to go in a room by myself - my husband gave me that weird - "what kind of woman thing is this?" look as he walked by me nose buried sniffing into the book!

Great book - with lots of of wonderful reminders!!!
