Few things

Today I had my nephew, Riley, for half the day because Sarah has the flu (and Shawn is on a trip). The kids had a great time. At one point I was checking on Riley and Will as they were playing cars and I asked Riley (who is entirely more knowledgeable about tractor and construction machines than I am) what a certain machine was. At first he said a bulldozer. Then he said, "No, that's a squasher downer." Hmm...interesting. Is that the technical name?

Tonight Rich brought home 2 of those stress balls you squeeze in your hand for each of the kids. They loved the feel of them and Paige asked what they were really for. Rich said they are to squeeze to get your energy and excitement out. While putting Paige to bed she had it in her hand and stated, "I'm definitely going to need this Christmas Eve!"

Lastly, please comment with your opinion: Because we have hodge podge stockings for the kids, I decided to order personalized stockings for each of them this year. I got them today and they are beautiful red and green velvet with gold embroidery. Love them! So...do we put them up now because they DO look so good, or do we fill THOSE stockings and have them waiting for them Christmas morning as a special surprise from Santa? Weigh in now! :)

I say have Santa deliver the new stockings!

I'm not even putting ours up yet, because Jack Henry will surely pull them down on himself (and when the weight hits him on the head, I'll be sorry that I opted for the fireplace looking good over safety!). Santa will put ours up when he leaves Christmas Eve.

Someday I want to pick out new stockings, too!

Paige is so funny!!! I don't blame her though. Do you think Rich could get ME a squeeze ball for Christmas Eve too?

Also, I think you should put the stockings up now! Especially if they are so pretty. Enjoy them :) I just bought some of those myself at Pottery Barn because they were on sale. I got the red ones with the ivory cuff and our names in red embroidery. I couldn't wait to put them up. I also got a green and red one that said "Donnie" in our package too. Hmmmmm, I guess now we have to name our first born Donnie.

My first reaction was to have them come for Christmas but then maybe there's too much going on that morning and they won't be enjoyed as much.

Or - I say you give them to them xmas eve night as a special present from you two - it'll be fun to hang them up and then go to bed and wait for them to get filled!!

Wow. TOTALLY conflicting opinions, huh? I think Santa should bring them, along with an extra hook so two don't have to share!! :-} Then, maybe they could disappear after Christmas and not be seen again until next year when Santa re-delivers them? That way, they have special Mom and Dad stockings and special Santa stockings. Nuts and fruit take up a lot of space, by the way! My dad always cheaped out on the stockings by putting an orange in the toe and then loading it up with walnuts. In the shell. Because, you know, that's what a kid REALLY wants. :]

I think Santa should leave them on Christmas Eve after he eats the cookies and drinks the chocolate milk!

I completley agree with Aunt Jamie on this one. Christmas morning they will just see them as another present not a very special one.

Also, they could be used in case of emergency when you want them to leave whatever fun party you're enjoying on Christmas Eve. If they don't want to go, have the stockings waiting at home. Then you can tell them there is a surprise waiting when they get home. Add a candy cane in each and they'll high tail it out of there:)

totally forgot to comment on the stress ball thingy...matt has one on his desk at work, so when they're there, they play with it in his office. they think that he probably plays with it everyday, in between talking on the phone and computer work.

love that paige is already sensing the excitement!
