Better than duct tape

Thursday, November 20, 2008
You know when your kid is being really loud and so you put duct tape across his mouth? What? You don't do that? Well, it doesn't matter, because I found a great alternative that won't get glares while out in public: chapstick!

Will is struggling with the vicious chapped lips/lick lips/chapped skin cycle. I tried putting chapstick on, but it seemed to have a paralyzing effect on his entire mouth. He could at the very most force out a mumble. I guess the "cooling" effect of the type I used was perceived more as a "burning" effect and that simply wasn't solving the problem. Plus, I started to miss his sweet voice. So, three different types later, I bought the plain 'ole black chapstick and we'll see how that works! But feel free to use this tip if your situation deems necessary!

* Note: I jest. Please don't call DCFS.

this is really, really useful information. also, i slather on vaseline after bennett's sleeping so that he gets some relief.

BTW, on your last comment on my blog, didn't you mean "nordstroms"? hee hee.

Poor thing! Does he get the red ring around his mouth? Vaseline at night is REALLY the best thing (great advice, Mrs. Diehl!) I used to do that to Kelly, too. As you may recall, she had (and to some extent, still has) a "crack stick" addiction. (She used to call it "yips".) She was never more than 2 feet from a Carmex jar at any given time. It was almost as serious as Martha's lip gloss addiction. :]
