Thursday Things

Today's thing was accomplishing the much anticipated flu shots for the season. This year (because Cole is now 6 months) there were 4 of us. Due to Paige's reaction to her Kindergarten shots (picture the shower scene in the movie Psycho), I knew I had to step lightly around the subject. I told them just 15 minutes before walking out the door. They got to pick out a piece of Halloween candy to have waiting for them in the car when we were finished. Though Paige was nervous and anxiety-ridden, she joyfully chatted the entire time we got ready to leave. Some of the chat was about leaving her "coat on because they couldn't get a needle through it...just kidding"---kind of. And this rubbed off on Will who started chanting "no flu shots." We waited in a semi-long line (that Paige noted went quite fast...like maybe too fast). I went first, and because my sleeve was pushed up tightly on my arm a pretty good sized bead of blood formed. Coulda done without the blood. Paige instantly started crying at the sight of it but we got all three kids up and stuck so fast the celebration began instantly. Hey, it's over. Let's go have chocolate!
